Food is an important part of nursery life at nippers. Our kitchen and dining room provide a welcoming, social environment where children can enjoy freshly prepared food, develop independence and experience the pleasure of eating together.
Our snacks, lunches and teas are freshly prepared on the premises each day in our 5-star rated kitchen, using a varied range of ingredients to create nutritious, child-friendly menus.
Children can enjoy breakfast when they arrive, providing a relaxed start to their day. Morning snack includes fresh fruit, organic milk or water and a light snack, while drinking water is always readily available throughout the nursery.
A two-course lunch is served at 12 noon, followed later by our afternoon café and a two-course tea from 4pm.
Mealtimes are relaxed and sociable. Sitting together gives children opportunities to talk, listen, try different foods and develop independence and positive eating habits.
Food also becomes part of our curriculum. Children regularly get involved in preparing food, cooking and exploring ingredients. These experiences naturally introduce new vocabulary, mathematics, science, physical skills and an understanding of healthy choices.
We work closely with families regarding allergies, dietary requirements and individual needs, and menus are shared with parents so they can see what their child is being offered.
